It is the 2 piece, retail 325. I agree it was a good deal. I do not
know why people think I do not like fly fishing. All I said was that
I was not very good at it last time I tried. I am extremely excited
about getting back into it with some good equipment and the mammoth
lakes area in the eastern sierra to try it. After playing with the 3
wt it does seem very light. I will try it out and if get into some
larger fish or conditions that justify the 5 wt, I will add this. I
did not think of buying an extra and selling at a profit. Too big
risk getting stuck with something I dont need.
I think the 3 wt will be a great rod, use it- but realize it is on the verge
of being a specialty rod. If its going to windy out, you won't be having
fun casting. Pay attention to the stream conditions- if you get into
warmish water and you can't land the fish "quickly" you are over stressing
the fish. Thats one condition where a slightly heavier rig might be better.
Also, if you going to be trying to fish heavy junk- heavy weighted streamers
and such like- the 3 weight won't cut it.
Use it for what its designed to do- and you'll have a blast.
Have fun!
