Default Wachusett Reservoir (Mass.) Question

Hi,

Whenever I go the Wachusett Reservoir area, I usually fish the Quinapoxet
River there.
Have never really tried the reservoir proper.

Worth doing ?

If so, would appreciate any suggestions (don't want any secret spots) as to
a good gate or area to try where there would be some clear area for
backcasts, etc.

Possibly even some fish !

Do flyfishing only; no canoe.

Also, not a long walk in from where one leaves the car.
Can't do the long hikes anymore, unfortunately.

Much thanks,
Bob

Well I tried to scare up some ROFF Mass. talent, but they didn't fish
Wachusett. Just from the net I gathered that 80% ofthe 37 miles of
shoreline is accessible, boats are prohibited, and this is a big fish
venue if you hit it right. Some indication that it is a smallmouth
bass hotspot, but has plenty of largemouth, Browns and Lake trout. The
reports on the net seem to point to sinking baits. I would at least
start with a decent sized conehead or beadhead wooly bugger in mufti.
Live bait is out. Smelt provides much of the food base. etc Google it
up as "wachusett fishing." There is lots of net stuff. Gopod luck.
Let us know how you do.
