My first thought was that Sage had a relative few extras still rattling around
the shop for some reason, and someone figured out that there were two choices -
sell 'em cheap as a close-out OR make 'em seem like a bargain at any price and
get tip-top dollar, pardon the sorta-pun
Sage has a program for it's dealer network where they will make a run
of their discontinued rods as long as the dealer(s) buy the whole
batch. Last I heard the minimum number was 50. These will be new rods
with the warranty and of course they will carry the full retail
price.
Hilarious. Any idea how Sage rationalizes it? It would seem that given Sage
(and that of other makers, as well) marketing that their newest offering makes
the last offering look barely usable, which made its predecessor barely usable,
etc., offering models from one or more models ago would be, um,
"counter-productive."
