we generally refer to the whole life-cycle as Caddis, Bill.
When Bruce was speaking of Tan Caddis hatch starting, the tan net-spinning
caddis is pupating and about to go through their adult phases. For
surface(or near-surface) anglers, this means fishing to hatching and
egg-laying adults.
