Beautiful river. Not a single visible dwelling in the 20 mile total
float. Good, bordering great fishing. Enough whitewater to at least
be mildly entertaining.
Nice TR, thanks for taking the time to post.
I spent some time on the Pere Marquette one of Michigan's federally
designated "wild and scenic" rivers and was surprised at the contrast
between that river and what I'm accustomed to in Missouri. In Missouri
they eminent domain everything on both sides of the river and it's
all public land. In Michigan there are huts, shacks, lodges and a few
mansions right on the river and big No Trespassing signs *everywhere*.
Some of the signs are nice, No Entry, No Admission, and others are
downright nasty citing chapter and ordinance number plus the jail time.
I don't know what in the hell is supposed to be "wild and scenic" about
the Pere Marquette.
