Every time I go to Alaska or Labrador I fly in either an Otter or a
Beaver. Because I weigh 220, they usually put me in the co-pilot's seat.
In Alaska we flew in Beaver floats every day. Best thing about that is
the earphones. The Alaskan planes always had earphones for all. Not so
the Labrador Otters.
As far as thrills: Having crashed twice while in the Navy (AF C-47 at
Wright-Patterson, and a Navy C121 (Connie) in Japan, I no longer look for
thrills. d;o) I did, however, take a 45 minute flight this past July
over the Rangeley Lakes area in a Cesna 182 float plane and got some good
pictures of the Rapid River. I took the two Russian girls working at
Lakewood for the summer up with me (19 and 20 yo. Eat your heart out,
wayno), and *they* were thrilled.

Most of the Otters have been turbinized these days. C-47? I thought they
never crashed. Just the $19. Gave more religion to others than any church.
You prayed it would get off the ground and then prayed it made it back to
earth safely.
