Lake Ontario shiners?

Oooh, that's nasty. But our problem isn't errant
particles as such, it's errant molecules. Sure,
we're the proud caretakers of ManhattanProject
tailings. But it's Love Canal, just upstream from
the mighty Niagara Falls, and other dumps, waiting
to be discovered upon the demise of the chemical
plants sitting on top of them, that provide the true
curisoities in our neighborhood. When we haul in
a fish on Lake Ontario we look for growths, not
glows. It makes one wonder about the medical
histories of long-term employees of the Maid of
the Mist boats, rugged craft that spend sooo
much time in the spray and fog at the foot of the
Falls.

that is scary.....

it amazes me at times that we (and i say we, as the human race...
particularily the "industrialized" human race) subscribe to the
chemo concept..... better chems, better life.

sorry trip and forty, i'm not speaking here of the ingestion
chems, i'm blathering about the "dupont" (i use the term "dupont"
as a descriptive term for all chemical manufacturers and
processors, not singularily the CT corp, dupont) wonders that
make all of our lives so blissful and wonderful.

flyfishing.... hmmm.... to name a few....

graphite....

nickel & silver....

polymers....

flashabou....

these elements, compounds, & finallized product may (they most
likely do) cause health problems for the people that are
associated with them industrially.

well hell bill, what's the deal?

the deal is that in modern society, the philosophy, perhaps the
aberrant philosophy, is that we as a society try to make life as
easy, comfortable, and most importatly, entertaining as
possible.... for thy ownself.... gawdamn, the perfect conundrum.

certain factions, "faceless" corporations, realize that their
survival and well-being is best served by the production of these
chems and products to make life just rosy and toasty for the rest
of us.... hell, for all of mankind.

am i condemning? i really don't have that answer.... 'tis the way
it is today and i fear that we must suffer the tumors that grow
on or in us for the comforts that we enjoy.... i for one, do
enjoy my "plastic" flyfishing tools....
