Took a well deserved nap until 3 when the cabin boy woke me putting

Fishing is great. Took some nice brook trout and salmon today, but
strangely all the trout were females. I haven't heard of anyone taking
a male all week. Very strange.
A friend came up from Littleton, Mass. Only could spend a day, but he
took some nice fish. We got at the dam early this morning and found a
guide with two sports parked at two good spots. We took a so-so spot
and I gave Chip one of Harry's Killer Caddis. I showed Chip the rising
trout out about 40 feet, and on his second cast he hooked into a 15
inch brookie, landing and releasing it safely. I looked over at the
guide to see his reaction - it wasn't good. Five minutes later Chip
had landed another brookie and a small salmon on the caddis. The guide
poked his sport and they moved. He got his other sport and they left.
Gee, was it something we said? d;o)
Whit and I took Chip down to South Arm at 4:30. He'll be back. He
fell in love with the cabin, food, and especially the fishing.
A twenty-one inch brook trout was taken just before lunch today by one
of the camp's guests. Took a nymph - PT I think. The guy had a hard
time landing the fish. I should have gone over and helped him net it,
but it would have meant climbing over lots of rocks, then climbing over
more rocks to get to him. He managed w/out me, but it took him a long
time (10 minutes).
Meatloaf with red wine sauce for dinner. More champagne too. You and
Rachel must come up.
