fishing line memory

Is there any practical way to "unlearn" fishing line memory? When I
comes off the spool it seems ok, but when I release the guide to cast,
it jumps off the spool like a slinky and it was new line........

Once you figure out how to spool your reel correctly, and have selected
the right line weight for your reel ...good advice from the posters
here...then think about trying different lines. Sometimes trying to save
a little money isn't the best way to go, it might even be cheaper in the
long run to buy a better performing line. I almost exclusively use
spinning gear, and I would much rather spend a bit more, and fish more,
rather than fooling with "contrary" line!
