Default Happy Christmas

For reasons that are inscrutable even to me, Wales has always struck
me as a very proper place to spend Christmas. Alas, I've never
crossed to the east side of the pond to test the theory. Maybe
someday.....I've got people who've got people somewhere around there.

This year, I'll be spending Christmas in a cozy little house in the
woods with a very few very dear friends. We will doubtless roast
chestnuts on an open fire. And not just any chestnuts......real
American Chestnuts! The last of a dwindling species, or so I
thought. We will also go out and cut and prune and chip and spread
and split. Benjamin Franklin said that he who cuts his own wood is
twice warmed. Well, yeah, if you burn it where it drops. What with
falling, cutting, spliting, hauling, stacking, hauling again into the
house......we will be at least thrice warmed.....probably more. We
will also be warmed internally by a wide and varied and bountiful (if
not necessarily refined) selection of comestibles and potables, and
psychically by the company we keep and our surroundings.

And all of that strikes me as very proper, too.

Merry Christmas, Bill......and yes, all the rest of you as well.
