I've never had good success in California, and don't even bother any
more. Haven't for years.


Many years ago -- 69-71 -- I had good success waaaaaay up on the Kern
River NE of B'Field. Prolly all stripped and developed by now.
Then tried the Russian River and found it full of bulldozers with
"chess knight" logos on the sides. Don't know what was going on, so
quit.
Best luck I had was bass fishing in irrigation ponds around the
fringes of the Mojave.
