Default Anybody Tried Tenkara Fly Fishing?

I like the concept of Tenkara (Japanese form of fly fishing with long
"dapping" style rods and the line tied to the end of the rod, no
reel).
With a 15' rod (telescopes to 20") and equivalent line length tucked
into the back of my vest, I can see about 90% of my nymphing being
done with this rod. *Also, when dapping would be the thing to do (such
as last year at Penns when the drakes covered the water), to have this
rod available would be very helpful.
Anybody tried it or seen it?

Never tried it, seen it, or even heard of it, till now.

Sounds interesting, though. Sorta harks back to Walton, Cotton,
Berners, et al.

Fifteen feet of rod and fifteen feet of line would cover an infinitude
of fly fishing situations......which is to say that it wouldn't be of
much use for most fly fishing situations.

Sounds like fun.

giles.
