Getting there is NOT half the fun
The work on the house is winding down and maybe I'll get to head out
early to mid week ..next week
I'm not in a great hurry because right now there are Winter Storm
Warnings active for much of the drive ... I quote
"A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED
OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL
VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE."
Don't think I'll tackle that towing my trailer .... with or without
chains G So, now, I'm mostly waiting for a break in the weather.
For anybody vaguely interested, I'm going to drive to Craig and fish
the Missouri. There is a strong chance of many days when fishing is
nearly impossible because of wind but I never got any tying done this
year so I can keep busy with that. Reports I trust talk of excellent
top water action over midges and baetis ...WHEN the wind ain't howlin'
That's nothing new to me. The Missouri ( in my limited, been there 4
trips, experience ) produces great fishing ... when the wind isn't a
gale, or water too high ... but gales are very common. Two years
ago I parked there for 4 days of constant high wind and actually got
to fish with any hope of success, during a single break in the blow of
about 2 hours ... total. However, in one of those 2 hours I
landed 4 honesty stick measured 20++ fish ( best near two feet, big
current, big battles, big fun ) on a Sparkle Dun and lost
another .... my best big fish hour ever ... Find a head, cast, hang
on and watch the backing zing off downstream, YeHaw !!
Larry L ( who is clearly past ready to be fishin )
