Default OT - gifts

Though the horse**** abounds neck high at times, so does the generous
good spirit of folks i've been fortunate to meet through this newsgroup.

Two days ago, i received a surprise ups delivery. Upon opening it, i
discovered a newly published book -"In That Sweet Country", containing
the uncollected writings of Harry Middleton put together by Ron Ellis,
along with a friend's note simply saying "Hope you haven't bought this
yet." An unexpected gift... from a friend I met through this group.

In any event...i've a new Middleton publication, my chestnut trees are
growing, and in less than a month i'll be chasing the great mystery
again in Montana. *None of these would have been a part of my life if
not for the people i've met through roff, and their unconditional
willingness to share their kindness and knowledge with the unworthy
likes of me.

Oh...and here's a new musical discovery (for me at least)...Melody
Gardot. *If you like unique easy-listening jazz/blues vocals, she's
terrific imo.

I'll have you know that yesterday, just yesterday, I received an email
from Amazon... Yes, Amazon.com.

They chatted for a bit and then got to the point. They specifically
mentioned the book and the CD I ordered, specified shipping dates and
targeted dates of delivery. That's how I like. Short and sweet.

Oh, we have had some dealings over the years but I think I have
finally got them shaped up into an efficient company. That's why they
give me such good service...

I mean, when is the last time Sam Walton called you and said, "Gee
Jeff, thanks for buying that t-shirt?"
