October Caddis in Southeastern Washington

Was out at my place on the T------. Fished it and the Tucannon. No
biggies, lots of little cutts and a few nice ones and an occasional
decent sized rainbow (10" + is my dividing line). Hatches of
"mayflies" were erratic, lots of what i call BWOs, and still some
hoppers, HOWEVER, the surprise was the prolific October Caddis. Lots
out in the evening and probably all nite, but some were present all
day, and the brush was full of them. I don't remember ever seeing so
many here, or on the Yakima, or this early.
I spent a few days on the NF of the Clearwater and above the week of Sept.
22nd - 26th. The later part of the week was showing good numbers of October
Caddis and the Cutthroat and occasional Rainbow were definitely keying on
them.
I found that after throwing a stimulator dry through a run, you could pick
up a fish or two, when there were no more takers on the surface you could
swing the Stimulator wet and pickup another fish, sometimes if you missed a
fish on the swing, there would be two or three others chasing throughout the
swing/run.
Great fun,
JT
