corporations. What do public sector unions balance? The power of those
governing, which in our representative democratic republic is
approximately the power of the people. So public sector unions are
anti-democratic. I agree that our society is in a sad state when it
comes to private sector unions, it almost cries out for revolutionary
thinking (and acting); yet public sector unions are really a symptom
of an underlying disfunction. They should not be needed. And they can
become too powerful. If anyone right now needs a public sector union
it is not the teachers, it is the soldiers.
