You can also go through London or Dubai.

Overnight in Mahe isn't a bad idea, coming or going. The arrival
layover in Mahe was long, but I got to Alphonse that afternoon. Took a
taxi into town. Forgot my rain jacket. Got wet. Took photos. Had a
couple beers. Pleasant day.
