Default Pickerel in Pond ?

I haven't seen any pickerel in any ponds around here (western New York), but
that doesn't mean they don't exist in ponds. However, I've extensively
fished lakes with pickerel populations.

In those lakes we've found pickerel in any place that we've found bass.
They'll take any lure you own, from topwaters to bottom crawlers and
everything in between. If I were targeting them I might give the nod to a
spinnerbait by a tiny margin.

They are just as adept at biteoffs as their larger cousins, pike. I'd use
the same size lures that you'd use for bass in the 2-4# category. I've
always felt that a decent sized pickerel fights better than a similar sized
largemouth.

Hi,

Live outside of Boston.

The relatively small Pond I go to a lot has a list of fish that are,
supposedly, in it.

Besides the usual cast of characters, they say there are also Pickeral in
it.

Have never seen a Pickerel.

What's are some good lures to try for Pickerel specific ? Size ?

Are they a bottom dwelling fish, or...?

Any hints for ?

Thanks,
Bob
