I'm going on a salt water trip with RW and Bruiser from ROFF late
Spring. I need both 8 weight and 10 weight outfit (these are two
suggested by Bruiser) we'll be fishing for bonefish, baby tarpon and
whatever else we find. I'm new to this.

I assume you meant this to be email to somebody, but where I was in
Belize there were tarpon that would be too much (in my opinion) for a
10wt. I used mostly a 7wt and 9wt for bonefish and an 11wt for tarpon,
but I think an 8wt for bonefish would be better all around than a 7wt
or 9wt. Of course, you could just not cast to big tarpon if you see
one, but that might be difficult. g Have a great trip.

I agree with the 8 weight ('cuz that's what I use for bones ;-)

As for the tarpon, I hooked four on my 8 weight and watched them all just keep
cruising 'til I ran out of backing. When I go back I'm bringing a 12wt.

They weren't "babies" though - unless baby tarpon are five feet long...
