First runs of trout?

Just wondering, for a beginner fly fisherman....When does the first
run of trout usually occur for the spring??? And also, what will they
bite on early in the spring. Will they even bite that much in the

I'd say the trout are easiest to take on top toward the tail end of the
first major hatch, or maybe even the second hatch, depending on water and
weather conditions.
We all twiddle our thumbs waiting for the Hendricksens to start here in the
Northeast, but I'd estimate that only about every other year does this
hatch provide good fishing, and maybe outstanding fishing one year in four.
