First of all, welcome to the elite group of people who've been skunked - or
nearly so - in Missouri's trout parks where you can see more stocked fish in
an afternoon than Mrs Paul's sells in a year . . . Strange thing is that
neophytes usually catch more fish than experienced fly fishers. (That's the
exasperated voice of of experience.)
Second, you won't find any place in NC that's similar to Maramec Springs.
(Which flows into the Meramec river upstream from Maramac Spring State Park.
Missouri pioneers were spelling-challenged.) About the closest you can get
that I know of in NC is the streams on the Cherokee Indian Reservation.
Third, I'll second Wayne Harrison's advice about contacting the folks at
