Fractional dimensions are mathematically interesting and their
graphical representations have a certain visual appeal, but as
descriptions of human character they lead to unflattering conclusions.

So, on the one hand you toss off what appears to be intended as a
compliment, while on the other you suggest he should never believe he
has achieved the goal toward which he aspires.
