Default Lanyard question

(Conan The Librarian) wrote in message . com...
ROFFians,

As the weather warms up here, wearing a vest is out of the
question. I've got some nice fishing shirts with multiple pockets,
but thought it would be handy to have a lanyard for carrying some
odds-and-ends. After Googling ROFF for discussions on lanyards, I
think I have a good idea of the basics of making one.

My question centers around what folks use as a quick-release or
breakaway connection for their lanyards. I was looking at some of the
net clips out there and thought that might be the way to go. The
basic designs seem to be magnetic catches (like the Orvis) or the
catches like the Edgin clip. I was wondering what ROFFites have used,
and any ideas you might have on pros and cons of any systems.

BTW, I know I could just buy a lanyard in the first place, but I
like the idea of making my own and customizing it to my needs.

If your talking about the quick release that keeps the thing from
hanging you when snag a tree limb ( on land or under water) use a
"cord loc" from REI etc.
For hanging stuff I used the Berkley cross lock snaps, size 9X0B
For beads to seperate things try a craft store. Michales around here
had some real zorch beads.
I have not found a good source of tubular foam rubber to form padding
for your neck. I havne't needed it but the $30 lanyards have it.
