On the gun thing: Gun people and my politics just don't always mesh well but
Ive learned over the years that, despite these differences, gun people (in
general) share a whole hell of a lot more of my other interests and genuine
environmental values than do most folk of the lib ilk (who generally do
mouth more comforting slogans). Consequently I figure if gun folk can
tolerate an occasional outburst of my brand of centrist-nationalism, then I
can generally button-up my occasional discomfort with gun-lust . . .
especially in bear or cat or snake country.

Bottomline for me is that, in general, this issue is nothing worth insulting
a friend over, at least not in the USA. Paraphrasing that great departed
LIBERAL senator from Idaho, "if you don't like it, change the Constitution
Mam."
