To each his own... I personally use both a lanyard and a fanny pack when
wade fishing. If in a drifter, I set the fanny pack down and just keep the
lanyard around my neck for easy access. Vests are hot in summer conditions
and generally too small if you are layered for winter fishing. With all the
pockets in a vest, half my time was spent trying to remember what pocket had
what!
