what troubles me most is that Rudy knew of the bear and told none of
us... i stumbled up the bear lane in the dark without any light (and

it
was real dark) late at night from your place after a consuming a
substantial portion of your special martinis (which was quite good

and
THANKS!) to tom and mike's place. if i had known the bear facts,

i'd
never have left your trailer until time to get in the truck. of

course,
i suppose there might have come a point when the bear would have

been
the lesser of the troubles i mighta faced that night...and the next

morning.

Actually, he didn't quite tell none of us. He certainly mentioned it
to me very early. Joel and/or Dave saw one near their cabin. Some
folks in a trailer near John's saw one too. There was some discussion
of it, off and on, throughout the week. From the descriptions I heard
and what Frank and I saw, it's apparent that there were at least two
different bears.....probably three. I was under the impression that
everyone knew about the sightings. Evidently this was not the case.

At any rate, Rudy is at least guilty of being pretty blasé about the
whole thing. I wasn't really concerned myself. In retrospect it's
easy to see that we (those of us who new) should have taken it more
seriously.

Did anyone at least inform Rudy of the damage the bear did? With a
campground about to fill up for Memorial Day someone should impress
upon him that he has a very serious problem on his hands.
