Beaverkill TR
Scott... I am almost ashamed to admit that I was thinking Blue
Quills.. but being the novice thought they were cool temp flies...Had
a doz in the box but didn't trust my perceptions/insite to go with
them... Like I said.. just a rank amature... Bill in Va.
P.S. I did buy a bunch of Gray Fox from a shop up there .. and they
were all in sz. 16 and up!.. AND i'm sure they were'nt unloading
inventory....
And Scott... if'n your ever thinking about headning to the mtn's of
Va.. give me a yell!... Bill once again.
Grey Foxes are big, like March Browns. My bet is Blue Wing Olive,
probably closer to 18
I fished March Brown nymphs, MB emergers,
drys and then some spinners. Best luck was with the size 14 drys.
This was my first outing of the year so I was missing a lot of takes.
Did manage to bring to hand about a doz trout over the weekend. The
best of which was 21", the rest 12-16". I did see one large greenish
fly buzzing along the bank and watch it land amonst the bushes but
couldn;t get close enuff to say it was a green drake. Looked to be
about a size 10. Saw another bug come off and it floated to about 2
ft from my face. Size 16-18 flouresent Green body. Def not a drake.
More worm like body. Any I.D. anyone?
Emerging caddis?
SO.. that's the best of the
fishing update for that neck of the woods I can offer ya. Bill in Va.
Thanks. Prepping for a trip next week. Can only hope the Drakes are
just starting. I'll bring some coffin flies, in case I'm closer to the
end.
