Default Anyone tried Buzz-off

I originally bought the stuff while on summer vacation when the deer

flies
were driving my dog crazy.
It worked so well for him that I sprayed my hat too. Once they land on

the
hat, it's lights out.

Wayno:
brand name?

It is Absorbine Flys-X, a ready-to-use pyrethrin-based insecticide. It also
has some citronella thrown in, so it probably works (somewhat) as a
repellent too.
I got a quart bottle of it at Co-Op Feeds a few years ago for $6.95

According to the label, the stuff is strong enough to kill ants, but is ok
to apply to livestock, pets, and household use. The only warnings I saw
were not to drink it, spray it on food, put it in your eyes, or pour it into
a trout stream. Also, if you decide to burn the container, it would not be
wise to breathe the smoke. If you are willing to live within those rules,
you should be reasonably safe.

The label had no warning against spraying it on your skin, but it didn't say
you could, so I don't. I spray it on my hat. When I do, it really cuts
down on the number of bugs that buzz around my head (more than once), and
when I spray the dog, the deer flies leave him alone.

For my skin, I use Skin-so-soft, in the Bug Guard Plus formula. It's the
original Skin-so-soft, with sunscreen plus another insect repellent added.
Works better than the DEET-based stuff, IMO, and lasts longer, too. Plus,
the mosquitoes tell you when it's time to put on more sunscreen g.
