Default Magnetic hooks

Nearlly all transformers have a huge magnetic field around them. Instead of
passing each hook thru the little tool.... take the whole box and bring them
next to an active transformer, preferably one that lowers voltage from say,
120 to 24. ........ Hold the box closely for a few seconds and then back well
away from the transformer, at
least 3-4 feet. Now check for magnetism... probably gone.

Will that work with a permanent magnet?

What puzzles me is that you do the same thing to magnetize things,
don't you? Some of my fly tying tools are maegnetized, and I think
it's becuse they were near, or touched, a magnet I use to search for
and pick up lost hooks.
