FWIW, I expect you could use most tool demagnetizers on an entire box
of midge hooks.

A magnetizing tool is MUCH different than an Alternating Field. There is a
magnetic flux that surrounds transformers and different hooks might be
magnetized at opposite ends... i.e., + on one side, - on the other. Putting
the hooks in the AC field inducts magnetism... when taken slowly away from
the field as it oscillates the magnetism within the hooks becomes less and
less as you pull the item(s) away from the transformer. And at least 3-4
feet, too!!
