My last trip to the UP was in July of 2002. Stopped at a fly shop and
picked up a pattern I never would have guessed to use. It's a simple
black
fly/deer fly pattern. Probably a size 16 or 14, black foam body and
grizzly
hen wings laid down flat like a housefly would be. I caught some brookies
that had so many naturals like this in them, they were coming out of their
mouths! I'd think the pattern would work in June, as the black flies will
be out.
