If you're fishing the real rough stuff, then I can understand the need
for the 30-40 lb BS, but in my opinion there's no great benefit in
using an especially thin line (I'm assuming that you're fishing from
the shore).
You're not going to be casting any great distance, so reel capacity
isn't an issue, and any reel with the backbone to haul your end tackle
out of a tangle of kelp will hold more than enough line in that range
of BS regardless of its diameter.

Have a look at http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/authors/dave02.htm for a
review of various lines. The ones tested were 15lb BS, but I'd guess
that the comparisons still hold for the higher BS you require.
