Do you remember when the close season was the close season and we had to go
sea fishing if we wanted to wet a line.I normally had a go for mullet around
Poole harbour or wrasse on a carp rod from Kimmeridge.

A little early for mullet but there are bream and early bass about - ooops
OT here.

Then you were able to go to venues stocked with Trout and fish for then
using coarse methods and it you caught coarse fish by accident you had to
put them back straight away.Yes silly rules.

That was a straightforward attempt to evade the rules. It ought to have
been stamped out from the start. There is plenty of perfectly good trout
fishing to be had, by whatever method, in places where the chance of
catching coarse fish is minimal. It is curious then it was never tried the
other way round even though the indigenous trout fishing close is much
longer.

Cheerio,
