Local tackle shops

I am writing to tell you all to support your local tackle shops! My local
shop "Supertackle" in Beeston Notts has just shut down which means to get
bait I now have to drive 4-5 miles into Notts just to get half a pint of
maggots and a tin of hemp! I always took the local shop for granted but now
im left feeling a little sad as its gone. Hopefully it will be taken over
and made back into a tackle shop, I hope so as I don't fancy that trek to
get bait! Anyone else have any local tackle shop stories?
Maybe there should be a poll to see how many people actually get good
service from a local tackle shop.
I spent 5 hours going round five tackle shops in Brum on Saturday and
without fail found them to be scruffy and badly stocked, including two
that have very fancy websites which claim to have everything in stock
for immediate delivery.
Not one of these shops was welcoming, in most cases the person behind
the counter spent most of their time talking to the obvious locals in
the shop and didn't even acknowledge our existence. I left one shop
after a barrage of foul language came from behind the counter, this
carried on even when it was obvious I had my 10 year old son with me.
Came home, bought everything I wanted on the Web at far better prices
(and was able to choose from far wider stocks) than any of these so
called tackle dealers could offer.
Just my two penny worth :-)
(****ed off with wasting five hours going to dingy holes with no stock
!)
