question is even more irresponsible using rusty hooks.

The hook was probably not rusty when he used it. In actual fact he was,
whether knowingly or not
being more responsible in using a hook that did rust, rather than a
stainless
steel one that would remain in the fishes gullet, or throat for the rest of
its life.
