I know that as a pub name - anywhere near I wonder?

45lb, however they want to charge

If they have them they're probably illegal imports. If you want some
interesting fishing in the area then the Wareham club has (used to have?)
access to a few old claypits that hardly anyone fished. Some of them have
lovely wildies - real fish shaped carp - around the 3-15 lb mark that are
great fun to catch although the bankside conditions are a bit jungly.

It it me or is it just madness charging prices like that.I do not mind

In a couple of years the imported carp will have gone back or died and the
owner will either have gone bust or had a rethink. If the water's of any
intrinsic interest I expect it will be available for rather less.

do you have to be made of money to
go carp fishing these days??

No.

You can go carp fishing within easy reach of Wareham for, er, let's make a
rough calculation:

Licence 23.00
Club membership 43.00

Sufficient tackle including net 100.00

Bait, per trip: 0.50

So lets say 68 trips for 200.00 or less than 3.00 per trip excluding
transport, food and drink.

If you allow (say) four hours per trip you should get a couple of hundred or
more fish and get it below a quid per fish and under 20p/pound.

The second year will be cheaper.

Cheerio,
