I'm such a smuck! Sorry to bother with posting an email here, g
My son has been on my case for years to get something better than cork for
popping bug patterns. Over the years cork from Portugal has steadily
declined in quality so it is really a pain in the well you know to work
with. Just yesterday I looked down at one of my cork poppers and the cork
had just disintegrated on the back cast! Not just tore out of the slot but
the cork had just fallen all apart!!!
We've been playing around with various foams with limited success. If they
are the right density, they do not float. If they float, they do not hold
supergluing to a hook. Other times they cannot be machined. If they are
the right density, float and hold glue, they are the color of a bathroom
deposit and won't hold paint! Ugh! The quest goes on. Any ideas would be
appreciated.
My test run is about 100 bodies per size. Trying to hold all variables
constant except one means I screw up lots of bodies so I need lots of
material to play around with. Of course I'll share with everyone on this NG
who wants some when I come up with something that works.
Um...don't hold your breath. I'm such a smuck!

Mr. Fontanares,
No worry John. Looking to buy a lot of foam sheets? Are you going to
share
with your friends?
