Default Sage historical query

In his video tapes on casting and strategies for selective trout made a
good few years ago, Doug Swisher describes a rod he is using at one point
as an 8ı6" five weight Graphite II rod. From the rodıs appearance and the
use of the term "Graphite II" I assume the rod to be a Sage.

My question: would this be the same as the 8ı6" five weight currently
marketed by Sage in the DS2 range, or is it a beast of a different taper?

Just curious, but Iıd very much appreciate any enlightened comments you
can give me.

It is probably the old Sage RP line. When the RPL came out, Sage
introduced the Discovery series, which was (supposedly) the RP blank with
cheaper hardware. I think Sage claims to have upgraded the Discovery rods,
but I still like the RP's.

FWIW - I have a 8'6" 6wt Sage Graphite II rod that I built in the late
eighties. It is just that - Graphite II - no RP. I'm pretty sure it was
a totally different line than the RP's.
