Default New to fishing

The pelican.com bass boat is about 140 lbs, 12 ft long, seats 2.
costs about 500$. I like it because
1. It fits on a cartop or in my pickup. no trailer necessary.
2. It's light enough for me to manage.
3. Indestructible, can leave it outside anywhere.
4. Pretty stable.
5. Ugly dark gray, nobody will ever steal it.

Negatives.
No accessories for attachments, oar locks, awning poles, you
have to jury rig those yourself.

I am just getting into fishing and have an opportunity for either a 12
semi-v or 14ft jon boat. I own a 7.5 hp motor. I was just wondering
which one of the 2 would be more stable for my 10 y.o. and I to take out
fishing. Rick

Stability would probable be about the same for each as a 14 foot jon
boat usually has a wide beam which would make it on par with a 12 foot
Semi-v. The Semi-v will take on rough water better than the jon boat
but the jon boat will give you more room. Really depends on where you
intend to fish. If it is smaller lakes and rivers I'd go with the Jon
Boat but if there is a chance of some rough water or a wide section of
open water to cross all the time, maybe the Semi-V would be better.
Personally, if the Jon Boat has a wide beam, say 40 inches or more I
would go with the Jon Boat.
