Well it had to end and end it did this morning
The Hair bet that is. Two anglers on the same boat, fishing to preserve
one's hair while atempting to remove it from the other.
The Place- Big Lake, Long Pond P.A
Time- 5:15 a.m
The Bet- Anglers can choose two rods and two baits/lures.
I chose a secret weapon midnight snack and a wacky rigged senko in red
shad.
Dave opted for a secret weapon "green goddess" and a wacky rigged 3''inch
chubby in black.
If either one of us lost the spinnerbait then that angler would be left
fishing soft plastics for the remainder of the tourney using only one rod.
First person to catch a fish shaves the others head bald
Loophole: If same angler catches the second fish the bet is done and the
shaving begins. If the other angler catches the second fish he has choice,
keep his own hair or shave the head of the intial fish catching angler,
making both anglers bald as a bowling ball.
We started trolling slowly and Dave started off real strong landing a 14
inch bass that crushed his secret weapon off a point. I though I felt a
slight hit but chalked it up to grass. It was probably that fish I felt.
Now
all I felt was desperation to catch the next fish. Dave was smiling and
now
switched over to the wacky rig as the sun came up. I continued to fish the
midnight snack figuring I was going to live or die by it as it had been so
productive the past few days out. The next 30 minutes had some tail
tuggers
on Daves worm and some "let me scare him" hooksets, but no more fish. We
rounded the main point and down the bank and I was just about to head out
to
open water when Dave reels back and sets the hook, no fish. I kept
chucking
my SW and as it was nearing the boat I remembered Steve Hubers figure 8
words that I hardly ever practice, halfway through the 8 a nice swirl and
grab and I lifted my first morning bass into the boat. Decision time...
Keep
my hair or shave mine and take Dave's with me. Well your going to have to
go
to www.outdoorfrontiers.com to see the pictures.
Steve H can you post a link when they are up?
