South Beach was not to be spared from the millions of stripers that
were swarming the Cape. A memory I shall not forget for a while was a
cloud of fish about two acres in size slowly heading my way. Bear in
mind that the name of the game on S. Beach is to try to spot one to a
few fish as far away as possible. Such a large school is almost in
your mind's blind spot and does not register right away.
Instinctively I backed away, cheap movie style, and got to about
three inches below knee level when the school reached the point I was
standing. The lead fish broke around me but the followers did not
notice. Over a period of ten minutes this school passed me and I had
four fish, all more than 23" but not keepers, from this school. Given
the time it took to pass I am guessing it was much larger than I
first thought, or it was going circles !!

That sounds like a real blast, Gary. Thanks for the TR.

When you feel like taking a break from the biggies and want to get into some
10-18" trout on some tailwaters, give me a holler. It would be good to see you
again.

.. . . which reminds me - I ran into George Adams a week or so ago, and he's not
half the man he used to be. ;-)
