What is the recommended thing to do when the bass swallows the hook. I've
heard many different things and really don't know what to do. I want that

3
pounder I caught to live and become a 6 pounder...

Thanks!

Do not rip the hook out or try to remove if it beyond the reach of forceps,
pliers or a disgorger. If the gill is damaged and bleeding, the fish will
die anyway.

Cut the line as close to the hook as possible without causing more
injury, and release the fish. The hook will rust away in a few weeks.

This is why I use snelled hooks and snap swivels so much.
