With the shimano freespool or bait runner the freespool is dis-engaged by
operating the trigger, or just winding the reel, I do not go in for this
type of fishing ,however common sense (NO pun intended) tells me that the
bite alarm just warns of a run or bite, you should then wait for the run to
develop,apparrant by line being stripped off the reel. Assuming you reel is
not faulty, if your line is breaking, you are either using too low a
breaking strain line or the clutch on the reel is set too tight.

Is there an echo in here or is it me?
