Default Fishing shallow hot water in the heat of summer

Go as deep & as slow as you can with finesse sized baits Bob - these fish
are gonna get as far away from that hot surface water as they can & their
metabolism is gonna be almost shut-down. I may be jealous of your January
fish tales but surely not now. Water temps here are hovering in the mid
70's...

What do you do? We have a system of backwater lakes and the main river.
Deep water in the lakes might be 8-12 feet with a few areas going a littel
deeper. Ther are grass beds everywhere with some areas they are just
scattered.

Last time I went out surface temp was around 90 almost everywhere.
