hey dude the old clinch knot is very out dated if ya really look at it
it isnt the knot that breaks but its the line cutting its self

Still works for me. Never had one fail in the 40 years I have been tying it.
Did a test on a machine at a local bait store a few years back - the Trilene
salesman was touting the Palomar and Trilene knots - and my improved clinch
knot beat the other two every time.
