I have some mackerel in the freezer that I brought home from one of our
trips but not sure how to use it. So, next question is.... how do we fish
with it? I've been reading the Kittery weekly report, and it is good in
that is says where they are catching the fish and with what, but again, we
don't know how to use the various things they've mentioned. (Sorry to sound
so dumb, but we are VERY new to this sal****er fishing). Thanks to Sandy
and Daytripper for your responses. Would welcome more comments on how to use
the various things.

Yes, Surfland Tackle Shop is a good place to get advice, as well as tackle
and bait, but closer to Rye Harbor are Suds 'n Soda Bait & Tackle Shop on
Route 33 in Greenland and the Kittery Trading Post. Check out the weekly
Fishing Report posted on Monday afternoons at
http://www.kitterytradingpost.com Usually the report will tell you what
the
stripers and blues are being caught on.

Live mackerel are great bait. As second choice, have you tried chunks of
frozen mackerel?
