Could you recommend some pike fly patterns that I could attempt to try
and tie? Any 'best' color combos?
My favorites are black and red, sometimes chartreuse, sometimes green.

Also check out Barry Reynold's book, Pike on the Fly. With the single
exception of his reccommendation that you use heavy mono for a leader,
his book is great.
