It's not about the efficiency of movement, but about directional stability
and control. But with light boats, regardless of which end you steer from
the secret to making it easy to control is getting the other end in the
water as deep as the end you are at. Otherwise, it tends to spin with the
wind and slide instead of turning with the motor.
