In recent years, nearly every fishing boat rental place on one of my
favorite lakes has closed up. It was a combination of high cost of insurance
and people junking up the boats, they say.

Amazingly, though, you can still rent canoes ( far more tipsy ) and maybe
even kayaks at lots of places. If you could get your hands on a two man
kayak, it might do the job and get you into places that others can't fish.
It might be a purchase item ( used ones work just fine) and solve the future
fishing issues for a long time, too. Rent one first, though.
