That said, good TR of sorts.....glad the fishing was good. What was the fly

of
choice this time of year?

Unzipped, IIRC...oh, wait, you mean astream, I take it? The lighter
EHCs in 14-16ish sizes, BWO in "where the flock IS the damned thing?"ish
sizes, and a coupla nymphs for those that wished...I didn't wish, so I
didn't ask or pay attention. The fly selection just needed to be "well,
Bob, that COULD be food and I'm tired of just swimming, so..." but
presentation/retrieve/etc. was important, especially in the lower,
more-often-fished streams where the fish were hungry, but educated.

I fished yesterday afternoon in a place where the trout see just about every
kind of fly thrown at them. It's in the same area that George Adams had
mentioned he had good luck recently with the Pass Lake. I fished for about an
hour with no luck at all, trying several dries and emergers. Then I switched to
a biot soft hackle, which resulted in the biggest 'bow I've caught this year.
The take was so subtle, all I saw was my line stop for a second so I raised the
rod tip. The only thing I can figure is that these fish see so many Adams and
Wulffs, they just ignore them. Presenting something a little different has been
the key lately.
